Building Investigations And Material Analysis

Based on years of experience, practice and innovation, we can undertake building investigations to determine potential problems or causes of structural damage.

Typical areas of expertise include:

  1. Concrete coring and sampling of infill with regard to chloride and sulphate attack or expansive infills such as Cleveland Shale.
  2. Sampling of established buildings for: mortar composition, rising damp investigations in plaster and salts in brickwork.
  3. Material analysis, including: concrete, mortar and screeds, plaster and render, brick and stone, lime sand mixes, sand, aggregate, infill, damp proof membranes and timber for preservatives etc.
  4. Assessment to ensure materials meet the relevant Standards during construction.
  5. Problem solving - investigation of damp proof courses, corrosion of metallic parts, eg plumbing, corrosion of roofs, defective paintwork, deposit build up, carbonation of concrete and breakdown of concrete reinforcement.
