Asbestos - Britain’s Biggest Workplace Killer

Posted in Company announcement

More than 35000 death have occurred in Britain between 1977 and 2007 due to mesothelioma, contracted through exposure to asbestos.

Worryingly, this number is increasing and around 25% of the annual asbestos related deaths per year in Britain are tradesmen such as Plumbers, Electricians and Joiners.

The Health & Safety Executive are currently running a campaign entitled 'Asbestos: Hidden Killer' which highlights where asbestos containing materials may be present, what they look like and how to deal with them. It also has information on where to find appropriate training.

A member of IATP (Independent Asbestos Training Providers), Pattinson Scientific Services are able to provide the following:

  • Asbestos Awareness Training
  • Non-Licensed Asbestos Removal Training

These training courses are tailored to suit the individual needs of the Client and can be carried out either at our Newcastle based Training Facilities or at any location throughout the UK.

Hopefully, by working closely with our clients and improving awareness of asbestos, we can play a small part in the reduction of asbestos related deaths in the future.
