Asbestos: The Survey Guide

Posted in Company announcement

On Friday 29th January 2010 the much anticipated guidance HSG264 – ‘Asbestos: The survey guide’ was issued by the Health and Safety Executive.

This publication replaces and expands upon the previous surveying method MDHS100 'Surveying, sampling and assessment of asbestos-containing materials'.

It is not only aimed at people carrying out the actual asbestos surveys but also those with specific responsibilities for managing asbestos in non-domestic premises under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006.

HSG264 covers competence and quality assurance and surveys, including: survey planning, carrying out the surveys, the survey report and the dutyholder's use of the survey information.

Representatives of Pattinson Scientific Services have already attended a pre-publication BOHS/HSE event and will also attend a BOHS/ATaC post publication event on the 3rd February 2010 in order to ensure that the most up-to-date knowledge of the implications of the document are known. If you need to discuss any surveying queries, please do not hesitate to contact either Chris Gilliead or Karl Reid at any time.

The document can be downloaded free from the HSE Website at the following address: http://books.hse.gov.uk/hse/public/saleproduct.jsf?catalogueCode=9780717663859
