HSE crackdown on Repair Firms

Posted in Industry news

Over the next 3 months, 150 HSE inspectors will be targetting refurbishment specialists nationwide in a safety crackdown, in an effort to reduce fatalities in the refurbishment sector.

The unannounced visits have started on the 14th February and will focus on 3 key areas:

  • Working at height
  • Asbestos exposure
  • Site order

Chief inspector Philip White stated that inspectors would be particularly looking to see if asbestos surveys had been carried out prior to refurbishment works.

This issue affects all contractors, whether large corporations or small 'one-man' independent operators. It is therefore imperative that suitable surveys are carried out prior to any refurbishment work starting on site.

Pattinson Scientific Services are fully equipped to carry out refurbishment surveys prior to works and can arrange and supervise any remediation/removal of located asbestos, in an efficient and cost-effective way.

Please call either Chris Gilliead or Karl Reid to discuss your requirements.
